My Mexico vlog is up, yay! I’m quite proud of myself. This time it’s only a month and a bit after the actual vacation, plus I edited the majority of it myself. I cut 30 minutes of footage down to 4, which is something that really intimidated me a few months ago. I can see myself feeling confident enough to add video editing to my LinkedIn profile in the near future. Anyway, for anyone missing summer check out my week in Playa del Carmen below.
Unfortunately we couldn’t film the coolest part of the trip, the snorkeling, because we don’t have an underwater camera. The excursion was my birthday present to Kirill. We lucked out with the best tour guide ever, super sexy Ticho (that’s how he presented himself). We started the day snorkeling in the sea, where we saw a baby stingray and turtle in the wild! Plus tons of tropical fish and coral. It was a million times better than an aquarium.
Next we went to a closed cenote in the jungle, and I braved the “refreshing” 12 degree water. Usually I don’t swim in water unless it’s in the mid-20s because I’m a total pussy, but I’m glad I did because cenotes are damn cool. There were still little fishies in there! I have no idea what they survive on since there’s barely any light in the cavern. And it was surprisingly deep with a lot of coral (not as colourful as the sea but still pretty). Lastly we went to a gorgeous open cenote that we cliff-dived and ziplined into. Snorkeling in it was also so surreal, you can’t tell from the surface but there were millions of fishes underwater. It looked like a different world.
Our resort was also really nice. Although I love the types of vacations where you just explore all day long, I can’t deny it’s amazing to be able to relax and not worry about anything at an all-inclusive. I think it’s good to have a mixture of both in your travels. After this trip I think a week is perfect for an all-inclusive to really chill, plus get in at least one excursion. I wouldn’t have minded visiting the Mayan pyramids as well but now I have an excuse to go back.
Thanks for watching! What kind of vacation do you prefer?
