Even though I really have been trying to wear more colour lately, there are two dark shades I can never shake. No matter what time of the year it is, I’ll always turn to grey and black. In my opinion they can still be summery, like this SammyDress off the shoulder top.
I was excited to come across this top because it’s not just any top, it’s a t-shirt. I made a wishlist a while ago where I mentioned that I’d been wanting an off the shoulder t-shirt. Not a crop top or a long sleeve, but a t-shirt that’s appropriate any time of year.
I do love my distinct summer clothes and I always look forward to wearing them, but versatile and evergreen pieces are real treasures for me. Vancouver is seriously bipolar weather-wise, especially this year. Our winter was mild and spring surprisingly warm, but summer just can’t seem to stick. We’ve had a few warm days here and there followed by weeks of rain. We were lucky to be able to get out and shoot these photos on a rare sunny day, but I was actually a bit cold during the shoot because it was so windy.
This faux summer has been throwing me off, because it doesn’t feel like summer. It feels like some strange seasonal limbo. I think another thing is that I haven’t traveled anywhere yet this year and it’s getting me a bit down. I’m still new enough at my day job that I can’t take a vacation yet and I’m kicking myself for not taking one in between jobs. It’s hard not to get intense wanderlust with social media, and constantly seeing amazing images of beautiful destinations on Instagram.
But for now, Vancouver’s not bad. I’ll just run to the beach any time the sky lets me.
