Remember the blue monochrome look I did a few months ago? I’m continuing on the monochrome train with this olive paint splatter jacket & cutout dress. I really enjoy dressing in monochrome. There’s something so satisfying about finding matching pieces in your wardrobe. Like no matter what the items are they’ll look good because of their shared colour.
I’ve never been into military jackets, but I’m a sucker for paint splattered clothes. I don’t paint but I find it a cool detail. It turns out military jackets are actually a great item to have. The weight is perfect for transitional weather, plus it’s nice to have a biker jacket alternative sometimes. I wore it all summer long until our first cold snap a few weeks ago. I can see it in heavy rotation next spring.
After 4 years of living in East Van (the more hipstery part of town), grungy style has rubbed off on me. Growing up my style was a lot more feminine/girly but now I’m all about combat boots, unisex jackets, and messy hair. I think it’s inevitable for your location to rub off on you, even if you’re just visiting. And I’m glad it did. It feels more me than any looks I tried out in my experimental phases. Even if I move to a polar opposite neighbourhood, I feel like there will still always be a bit of East Van left in me.
