I’m living vicariously through these photos from Mexico. It’s been snowing all weekend. By now it’s taller than Lady! Of course, it came right after all the original snow finished melting and we had a week of +10 weather.
Anyway, flashback to warmer days in this little olive dress. I’m not really a neutrals girl (sorry, if I’m going to wear colour I want it to pop), but olive is growing on me. I bought the dress because it was cute and on sale for $15, but it turned out to be a really good buy!
The Best Type of Dress For Petites
I’m not the biggest fan of bodycons. I know, I’m small and I shouldn’t fear tight clothes. Still, I’m more drawn to the comfort of loose clothes. I have this irrational fear that my stomach will bloat to three times its size whenever I wear a bodycon dress. I don’t feel shy in a bikini, but the self-consciousness kicks in big time if I’m wearing something that clings to every curve and line.
This dress is special. It makes me feel good. I think the fabric plays a big role. It’s soft, stretchy, and not constricting at all. It doesn’t cling – it gently hugs. But what makes it the best is the cutouts. They break up the dress and make your legs look super long. The fit of the dress doesn’t really matter – last week’s flowy maxi also had waist cutouts that gave the same effect.
What do you think of cutout dresses?

By the way, these photos were taken on the grounds of the resort we stayed at. It’s called the Ocean Coral & Turquesa in case anyone is interested. I loved the colourful buildings, the palm garden/tropical hut walkway, and the terrace overlooking the sea. The staff were friendly and patient, especially the barmen. They had a pretty good food selection. Buffets for breakfast and lunch and 5 restaurants to choose from for dinner (though a lot of them are closed on Sunday).
The only downsides were that there were always people trying to sell tours, massages, photos, etc. They were never aggressive but we got asked several times a day. I also found the pool water to be a bit cold, but I prefer beaches to pools so it wasn’t a big deal. We enjoyed our stay there, it was very relaxing. It’s a quieter resort with an older crowd than a party one, but I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a chill beach getaway.
