Lace & leather, leather & lace. They’re like the fashion equivalent of lattes & pastries (I was going to say peanut butter & jelly but that’s too boring a comparison).
For a while I thought that there are no rules in fashion anymore, but now I think there is one. It’s the rule of opposites. The more two things contrast, the better they look. Think about it – a feminine dress with a sporty bomber jacket and sneakers, an elegant maxi skirt with a casual t-shirt, delicate lace with tough leather.
It’s like how books and movies have 2D characters and 3D characters. Fashion is more interesting when it has more dimensions, because we also do. Is anyone actually a perfect tomboy or girly girl?
These Sammydress leather shorts are perfect. I’ve been wanting a pair for a while but those gym short types were too puffy on me and I also didn’t want skin tight booty shorts. They’re just a tiny bit loose but still fitted – flattering and as comfortable as leather shorts can be (wouldn’t want a pair of Ross shorts). I also love the curved hem detail.
And I’m so glad I finally have a pair of block heel strappy sandals! I found a great pair last year on vacation but stupidly didn’t buy them because I thought they would still be around another day.
Thanks for reading! What’s your favourite fashion contrast or do you prefer sticking to one style?
