Hey guys! I don’t have an outfit for you today because I’m on an anniversary roadtrip with Kirill & Lady (more on that later). Instead, I’ve decided to do a monthly favourites post. I’ve noticed a lot of other bloggers doing them and I quite like them. They’re a good way to get more personal. I enjoy writing my regular posts but they can limiting because I have to stick to one topic. Hopefully you can get something out of it, like a new show to watch or song to listen to. Let me know what you think and I’ll start doing these every month if there’s a good response.
Anywhere in nature! It’s not called Raincouver for no reason so I’m taking advantage of the good weather while I can. My favourite place of the month was hands down Joffre Lakes, the views were simply amazing. I couldn’t believe how blue the water in the lakes were.
Whytecliff Park is another favourite because seals love hanging out there!
And we’ve been having gorgeous sunsets in the city – or we were before the air got all hazy from the forest fires in the North 🙁
Game of Thrones, of course. I also discovered a couple of amazing Netflix original movies: Okja & Take Me. Okja had me crying like a baby tbh, but it was beautifully filmed and had a good amount of comedy in it too. Take Me had me confused for about 80% of the movie but it was worth it in the end. It made me see Taylor Schilling in a new light.
Kasabian – Are You Looking For Action?
I’m loving their new album but this song is my favourite, it’s chill but makes me want to dance at the same time. Also the sequin suit in the video is amazing.
The Orwells – Ancient Egypt
Ok so this song isn’t new, but The Orwells are new to me. I discovered them at the Governor’s Ball and when I came home I added all their songs to my Spotify.
Lana Del Rey – Cherry
This is my favourite song from Lana Del Rey’s latest album. It’s a bit dark but still soothing somehow. Though I always find Lana’s voice soothing. The lyrics are a bit strange and kind of cheeky (are the fruits/spices metaphors? Is she just being random?) but my inner romantic loves the “I fall to pieces when I’m with you” line.
Eye masks!! I’ve been sleeping with one for a few months now and it makes SUCH a difference. I start and end my days early for my day job, so I got an eye mask to be able to fall asleep when it’s not quite dark out. I used to have trouble falling asleep but the eye mask has definitely reduced my time tossing and turning. Now I even use it on weekends when I go to bed late.
Also.. I dyed my hair back to my natural colour. I loved having colourful unicorn hair, the pink and purple were so fun, but I felt that my hair needed a break. Unfortunately the pink faded really quickly, and I kind of took that as a sign. I was thinking of going purple again because that actually lasted for months but I knew that I’d eventually have to re-dye it again. For now I just want to leave my hair alone and let it get healthy again. It’s feeling better now that I’m dyeing it less but it’s still quite frizzy.
Thanks for reading! What have you been up to this summer?
