How To Wear Ankle Boots (If You Are Petite)

I’ve dreaded typing these words, but I can’t deny it any longer. Fall is here.

I am upset about my favourite season ending, especially since it was raining for half the summer. But I’m trying to stay positive. It’s still not too cold, the colourful leaves are pretty, and I can pull out the only cold weather item I missed wearing: boots. More specifically, ankle boots. I’ve teamed up with Dora from Bangs Bang to show how to wear ankle boots if you are petite.

Apart from us both being petite, Dora and I also love of interesting textures (especially leather). Her style is very cool and unique, especially since she is studying fashion design and makes a lot of her own clothes. Be sure to check out her blog to see her designs!

Anyway, ankle boots are my favourite kind of shoe. I think they’re the most versatile (you can wear them with pretty much anything) and flattering for petites. Even though they have a bad rep of cutting your legs off and making you look shorter, I think if you find the right pair and style them correctly they are the way to go.

They don’t overwhelm or make or legs look weird, like certain mid-calf or tall boots. Just like shorter skirts are better for petites, it makes sense that shorter boots are too. Find a pair that isn’t too bulky and are as low as can be, and style them with things that make your legs look longer, like high waisted jeans or mini skirts (like I did).

I have a little collection of ankle boots going, but for this post I chose my most classic pair. I think everyone should own a similar pair because they’re so easy to style. Dora’s are super cool and embellished, which are also always great to have because who doesn’t love a good statement shoe? She wore hers with a dress and bomber jacket, proving that you can wear ankle boots with pretty much anything.

Thanks for reading! How do you like to wear ankle boots?

Hey! Visiting from Dora’s blog today! I’m also petite and I agree that shorter skirts and boots just suit us more. I feel like the tall boots can just overwhelm our figures sometimes. Loving your look and the lace up top!

Hey, thanks for stopping by! I think fitted over the knee boots are flattering but they have to be just right, otherwise it’s ankle boots all the way. Thank you! xx
