My band tee collection has a new addition. I’ve been a White Stripes fan basically since Seven Nation Army came out. And it’s not just their music (though I think they create amazing music for using so few instruments), it’s their whole red/white/black aesthetic. It feels wrong to not wear this White Stripes tee with red jeans. And the faux fur teddy, because it’s the best way to really stay warm while looking good.
I’m enjoying December a lot more than usual so far. There’s so much fun stuff going on I almost don’t care about the cold. Last week I saw Franz Ferdinand for the second time this year, and they were just as amazing as the first. And this weekend I went to a birthday party that went from guacamole and prosecco in an apartment to the private basement of a night club to an unconventional taxi ride home.
With the holidays coming up I have more cool things planned all the way into the New Year. I’ve never been one of those people that get super excited about Christmas/New Year’s. Coming from a small family it was never a huge celebration for us. But this year I’m starting to get it. It doesn’t have to be just about the one day. It’s the series of things you do and the people you spend it with, the way you make the traditions your own. For some it’s tree decorating and carols, for me it seems to be house parties and rock songs.
