Blossoms, brush strokes & biker jackets … some of my favourite things about spring. I’m not a painter so when I say brush strokes I mean all my pretty lightweight printed skirts and dresses that I finally get to wear. I have a thing for abstract, artsy prints (see some here & here). I also love how they look paired with tough biker jackets – another thing that feels so good to wear after months of heavy coats.
These photos were taken about a month ago on a street a few blocks from my house when the cherry blossoms were still blooming. Usually it’s the most average residential street, but during the cherry blossom season it becomes the prettiest street in the city with its cherry blossom roof. I go there almost every day when the blossoms are out, it’s a sight that never gets old.
Now they’ve being replaced by bright green leaves and bigger flowers. I really miss them though, there’s something so magical about those little pink blooms. After a long and mostly grey winter the trees that looked so gloomy suddenly become fresh, light, and fluffy. It’s natures best makeover, in my opinion. Even the ground looks pretty covered in little pink petals. There really is no better flower to represent spring and rebirth.
Sometimes I think New Year’s should be in spring. That’s really when everything is new and the extra sunlight and greenery give us more energy. Plus, getting dressed for NYE would get so much easier because I wouldn’t have to worry about layering.
Thanks for reading! Does your city have cherry blossoms? x
